As a sound, lighting, and scenic designer with 5 years of experience I’ve learned a lot about design through working on a variety of shows. My journey from starting as a senior in high school with no experience to now being a senior in a Design and Production program with many shows under my belt has taught me a lot about how to read scripts and how to design within my theatre's limits from doing a lot of community theatre work. I understand not knowing where to start when receiving a script because I’ve been there.
Through working on Marian or the True Tale of Robin Hood, I discovered that design impacts the show and that changed how I view design for theatre. This led me to change how I have analyzed scripts in the past year. Now I want to share how I break down scripts and create my unique designs with you.
If you’re looking for how to improve your designs, Theatre Design is where you’ll find how to break down scripts for your design emphasis. Join as we learn and grow together as designers.
So if you're ready to improve as a designer, tune into Theatre Design anywhere you listen to podcasts!
